Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)
The Ecologix MBBR combines conventional activated
sludge and biofilm media to create a highly efficient biological
treatment process. It utilizes floating High Capacity MicroOrganism BioChips (MBBR
media) in aeration and anoxic tanks.
These media provide ample surface area for microorganisms to attach and grow,
reducing the footprint required for
wastewater treatment. The MBBR system operates effectively under high volume loads
and can handle both aerobic and
anaerobic processes.
The MBBR technology offers several advantages: it saves
space due to its compact design, is easy to maintain, and allows
for straightforward expansion by adjusting carrier levels. Unlike traditional
activated sludge systems, MBBR does not
require sludge recycling, reducing discharge costs and producing less sludge
overall. Additionally, it is resilient to
toxic shocks and supports high sludge retention times, enhancing its effectiveness
in nitrification processes.
